Interactive tour at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory

As part of SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory’s 60th anniversary this year, we will be offering two engaging hour-long virtual tours that will cover some of SLAC’s history, facilities and sciences that address discoveries and solutions for tomorrow’s challenges. During the tour, the attendees will have the opportunity to interact with the tour guides in real time and win exciting prizes from trivia games.

Please note: Tours are open to all ages (suggested minimum age of 7 years) and advance registration is required.

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory

As one of 17 Department of Energy national labs, SLAC is a multi-program lab that pushes the frontiers of human knowledge and drives discoveries that benefit humankind. We invent the tools that make those discoveries possible and share them with scientists all over the world. A world-leading lab in X-ray and ultra fast science, SLAC is home to the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS), the first hard X-ray free electron laser and the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource. The lab is also upgrading LCLS to boost its power and capacity and is managing the construction of the world’s largest digital camera.

The Bay Area Science Festival will manage all in-person events with the health, safety and well-being of our staff, volunteers, hosts, exhibitors, and guests in mind. In response to COVID-19, we will be implementing public health requirements for all event hosts and attendees in accordance with local and state guidelines in order to celebrate science safely throughout the Bay Area. 

The Bay Area Science Festival encourages you to get vaccinated, wear a mask and practice social distancing. Be sure to check back for updated and more detailed COVID safety information prior to attending.
